About Mr. Sparkle
Mr. Sparkle was originally created as a GUI tool for testing SQL queries against the SSTM middleware server at SupplySolution, Inc. The SSTM is a middleware server that provides connection throttling, SQL templates, database session pooling, and a common API for client applications.
The tool was used by development, QA, and technical teams at SupplySolution to streamline query testing and debugging against the SSTM service layer.
The SSTM Middleware
The SSTM server acted as a central middleware layer within the i-Supply service at SupplySolution, Inc. Its capabilities included:
- Connection throttling to manage server load
- SQL templates for standardized query execution
- Database session pooling for efficient resource use
- A common API accessible to multiple client applications
Mr. Sparkle provided a practical interface for interacting with this middleware, allowing teams to validate SQL queries before integrating them into production workflows.
Project Background
Mr. Sparkle was developed during Phil Schwartz's time at SupplySolution, Inc., where it served as an internal tool supporting the i-Supply platform. It reflects a focus on practical developer tooling — building utilities that make technical teams more productive.
